Residential Treatment Centers (RTC)
Residential Treatment Centers are designed for those managing more serious emotional, dependency or dual diagnosis problems. Not all RTC’s are the same. Some students begin their journey at an RTC others attend a wilderness program prior to enrollment. Providing a controlled environment for your child allows for assessment and the time to internalize change.
Residential Treatment Centers are highly effective for those needing a more consistent level of psychiatric support. Clients may exhibit issues with anger, complex learning challenges, family dysfunction, adoption issues, oppositional defiance, self-destructive behaviors, chemical dependency, neurological impairments, bi polar disorders, post traumatic stress, autism, or pervasive developmental disorders

- Provide a safe, highly structured, psychologically sophisticated setting where staff are involved 24 hours a day
- Offer comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis, stabilization and medication management, and intensive individual and family therapy
- Accept students through rolling admissions
- Combine a more intensive therapeutic environment including specialty approaches such as DBT, EMDR, Neuro-Feedback, Cogmed Training and more.
- Offer a variety of different academic opportunities.
- Offers individual, group and family therapy and parent education
- Milieu treatment may focus around physical activity such as Skiing, Snowboarding, Physical Training including running, swimming or biking, Rock Climbing or sailing.
- Offer aftercare and transition planning services
- May be JCAHO, COA, or CARF accredited and may offer insurance
- Range from 4-14 months for treatment and serve from 10-180 teens
- Cost $4,000 to $12,000 per month
